La scomparsa di Pierre Agnès ha lasciato un grande incolmabile vuoto nel mondo del surf internazionale, il grande affetto che nutrivano per lui amici e famigliari traspare intensamente dai numerosi messaggi di cordoglio a lui dedicati in tutto il mondo.
Il presidente del gruppo Boardriders Inc., proprietario dei marchi Quiksilver, Roxy e DC, è scomparso in mare la mattina del 30 gennaio 2018 dopo essere uscito con la sua barca per pescare come spesso era solito fare. Dopo il ritrovamento dell’imbarcazione vuota e arenata su una spiaggia a nord di La Graviere sono scattate le ricerche con personale a terra e in mare con imbarcazioni ed elicotteri. Le ricerche sono proseguite fino al giorno successivo, quando nel primo pomeriggio del 31 gennaio le autorità ne hanno decretato la cessazione.
Pierre Agnès, 54 anni, era un surfista esperto, ex campione di surf francese negli anni 80, successivamente aveva iniziato la sua carriera lavorando per Quiksilver e partendo dai ranghi più bassi fino a raggiungere il vertice come presidente della più grande azienda del settore.
La sua carriera trentennale in Quiksilver è cominciata come team manager, la sua passione e brillantezza come surfista e come uomo d’affari lo hanno portato via via ad assumere ruoli sempre più importanti fino alla presidenza del gruppo dal 2015, guadagnando il rispetto di surfisti, impiegati e colleghi dell’industria surf.
I surfisti di tutto il mondo hanno espresso il loro cordoglio attraverso messaggi sui social. Le nostre più sincere condoglianze vanno alla famiglia e ai suoi cari.

Today we are deeply saddened to confirm that the search and rescue efforts have not been successful in locating our CEO, Pierre Agnes, who has been lost at sea since Tuesday morning. The entire Boardriders family and thousands of people he touched spanning the globe are mourning this tragic loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, family and friends in this extremely difficult time.
Pierre dedicated the past 30 years – his entire professional career – to Quiksilver, Boardriders and the surfing community. Our industry has lost a tremendous ambassador, visionary, and icon, and we have lost a dear friend and passionate leader.
Pierre loved the ocean, the surf industry, his hometown of Capbreton, France, our Company and our employees, who he considered family. He helped build Quiksilver into an industry leader, and leaves as his legacy the world’s leading action-sports company. We are committed to building upon his vision and continuing the Company’s success.

The Company will host several memorials around the world to celebrate Pierre’s life and his many accomplishments. Details will be announced at a later date.
