Primo round del rip curl pro search completato

Surfcorner.it – Completato finalmente il primo round del Rip Curl Pro Search 2009 a Peniche in Portogallo, con le ultime otto batterie del primo round nel campo gara di riserva di Lagido.

Ieri si erano disputate le prime otto heat a The Wall, uno spot riparato poco distante dal campo gara principale di Supertubos, ma anche oggi le condizioni non erano ottimali con leggero vento da mare e gli organizzatori hanno deciso di spostare il campo gara nello spot più riparato a nord di Supertubos, sulla sinistra pulita di Lagido, dove si è finalmente vista un pò di azione.

Se ieri il protagonista del giorno era stato Owen Wright con l’eliminazione del campione del mondo Junior ASP e attualmente 17esimo nel ranking, l’hawaiano Kekoa Bacalso, oggi la heat del giorno è stata quelle di Drew Courtney che ha vinto su Dustin Barca.

Courtney ha bisogno di due risultati importanti negli ultimi due contest per rimanere nei top 32. Ora incontrerà Taylor Knox nel secondo round.

Anche Greg Emslie è stato protagonista di una delle migliori heat del giorno, battendo il basco Aritz Aranburu.

Le previsioni danno un calo della swell per sabato prima di riaumentare con una nuova solida swell nel weekend.
