I migliori rider al mondo protagonisti del Foster ASP Men’s World Tour sono confluiti a San Clemente, nel sud della California per partecipare al Boost Mobile Pro di Trestles, uno dei più prestigiosi eventi negli Stati Uniti, presentato da Hurley, nonchè settima tappa del calendario.
Durante i precedenti sei eventi, parecchi sono stati vittime di infortuni, tuttavia la lunga pausa che ha preceduto il Boost Mobile ha anche garantito a tutti di riprendersi e di confermare la loro presenza al contest.
Kelly Slater è ancora in testa al ranking, pressato dall’avanzata degli altri competitori, primi tra tutti Taj Burrow ed Andy Irons, rispettivamente al secondo e terzo posto.
Burrow è particolarmente ansioso di riprendere il tour per tentare la scalata al vertice, essendo note le sue elevate prestazioni a Trestles e nelle prossime location di Hossegor e Mundaka, dove solitamente ottiene buoni risultati.
“Yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to surfing in the event at Trestles as I’ve had some good results there in the past few years,” detto Burrow. “It’s a really fun wave and I enjoy surfing out there.”
“It’s now or never!” diceva Burrow in Marzo. “ I had time out of the water last year due to injury and that really made me appreciate competitive surfing. It has heavily motivated me to go full on after the title.”
Dopo essere arrivato secondo per un soffio a J-Bay a causa della caduta sull’ultima onda, Burrow è più determinato che mai a vincere un evento quanto prima. “I’m really keen to win an event soon,” ha detto Burrow. “From there I’m hoping I can go on and bump off ‘the big fellow’ [Slater].”
