E’ stato Shane Dorian ad aggiudicarsi per la terza volta il Ride of the Year, il riconoscimento più prestigioso degli XXL Big Wave Awards, per l’onda surfata a Puerto Escondido mentre Benjamin Sanchis è stato premiato per il biggest Wipe Out con l’onda di Nazarè, e il tedesco Sebastian Steudner, già vincitore del Ride of the Year, torna a far parlare di sè per la biggest wave.
