Una mareggiata perfetta e massiccia ha inaugurato il Billabong Pro a Tahiti
Dopo tre giorni d’attesa, il Billabong Pro Tahiti è partito nel migliore dei modi, con una giornata epica caratterizzata da onde di 10-15 piedi di faccia (3-5 metri), pulite e perfette, su cui si è potuto completare il primo round e le prime due heat del secondo.
Tra i tubi memorabili c’è stato anche qualche brutto wipeout, come quello del local wildcard Tuamata Puhetini al secondo round contro Joel Parkinson, fortunatamente senza conseguenze, che lo ha costretto però a non continuare la heat, mentre l’altra wild card, Nathan Edge, è stato autore di un perfect ten mostruoso ma non sufficiente a farlo rientrare in gara dal secondo round.
Dopo un temporaneo calo previsto per oggi, le previsioni annunciano una nuova grossa mareggiata da Sud Ovest per mercoledì pomeriggio e giovedì, e un’altra ancora per gli ultimi giorni del waiting period, ma questa con venti non favorevoli.
